Samsung is developing a new image processing system for the Galaxy S27 series that integrates neural network algorithms with hardware acceleration. The technology, known as Neural Imaging and Visual Mapping, will be implemented in both the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra models.
Unlike standard post-processing, this system creates a unified hardware-software pipeline. It allows neural algorithms to interact with image processing hardware in real time during capture. This approach aims to enhance video recording, night photography, computational zoom, and telephoto lens performance.
The Visual Mapping technology is designed to analyze data across multiple consecutive frames. By tracking scene changes over time rather than processing individual frames independently, the system aims to improve overall image quality. These performance metrics are currently internal development targets.
The information comes from the insider Schrödinger, also known as Phone Futurist. This source previously provided accurate specifications for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus and was the first to report on the concept of the iPhone 20 with a four-sided curved display.
