Samsung is ending its native integration with Microsoft OneDrive for its international smartphone models. The change is scheduled to take effect on September 30, following the expiration of the partnership between the two companies.
Google is currently developing a new feature that will replace OneDrive with Google Photos synchronization within the Samsung Gallery app. Users will be able to access this option in the settings menu under the Sync Photos and Videos section.
Once a Google account is linked, users can view photos, videos, downloads, and screenshots across Samsung devices, the Google Photos app, and the web interface. All EXIF metadata will remain intact during the synchronization process.
The new integration comes with specific limitations. It will not be available for Google Workspace accounts or supervised accounts managed by parents. Additionally, synced content will not appear in Google Photos features like Memories or search unless users manually enable full backup.
