Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy SmartTag 3, featuring a significant design overhaul. Leaked renders reveal a squircle shape, moving away from the previous pill-like form factor. The device will be available in classic black and white color options, aligning with the aesthetic of Samsung's One UI and Galaxy smartwatches.

The new model integrates a central physical button surrounded by an LED indicator ring. This button supports single, double, and long-press actions to trigger phone searches or automate smart home routines via the Modes & Routines feature. The device retains both Bluetooth Low Energy and Ultra-Wideband connectivity, ensuring compatibility with the Samsung Find network.

A notable change is the removal of the built-in lanyard hole, a feature present in the SmartTag 2. This design shift mirrors the Apple AirTag, requiring users to purchase separate cases or leather attachments to secure the tracker to personal items. Samsung and third-party manufacturers are already developing these accessories to support the new form factor.

The Galaxy SmartTag 3 is expected to feature IP67 or IP68 dust and water resistance. Reports suggest potential upgrades to the Bluetooth protocol to enhance connection stability and battery life. The device is anticipated to launch soon alongside new Samsung terminal products, with the design change aimed at unifying the brand's industrial aesthetic and expanding the accessory ecosystem.
