Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag 3, the third iteration of its Bluetooth tracker. The device features a new squircle design that is 35 percent smaller and 33 percent lighter than its predecessor, the SmartTag 2. It lacks a built-in key ring cutout, requiring users to purchase separate protective cases for attachment.
The tracker offers improved power efficiency, extending the life of its replaceable CR2032 battery to 550 days under normal conditions or 790 days in power-saving mode. It carries an IP67 rating for durability and utilizes the Galaxy Find Network for tracking. For precise location, it combines ultra-wideband technology with Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding on compatible handsets.
New software capabilities include location history, movement detection alerts, and notifications for entering or exiting specific zones. Unlike previous models, the SmartTag 3 supports iOS, allowing users to share tracking data with others. Samsung intends this feature to assist in locating lost items or pets by sharing access with friends or family members.
The device will be available in black and white color options. It is scheduled for release in South Korea on October 7th. Samsung plans to expand availability to additional markets in 2027, though the company has not yet provided pricing or a specific release date for the United States.
