Samsung is reportedly adjusting the image processing algorithms for its upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra flagship smartphone. According to leaks shared on X by @WalleGalaxy, the company intends to reduce default sharpening levels and move away from the cool color tones characteristic of previous models in favor of warmer color profiles.
These software modifications are expected to extend to the Galaxy S27 Pro model as well. While the information has been picked up by several tech outlets, it currently lacks independent verification from other sources. The leaker has a history of providing accurate information regarding device mockups, accessories, and official certifications.
In terms of video capabilities, Samsung plans to update its Log video format and upgrade the APV codec. These changes aim to enhance the dynamic range of recorded footage. The company introduced this format with the Galaxy S26 Ultra to preserve image details and minimize compression artifacts.
The maximum recording specifications for the Galaxy S27 Ultra are expected to remain at 4K 120fps and 8K 30fps. Samsung is focusing its efforts on optimizing highlight and shadow rendering, as well as providing more flexibility for post-production color grading through the updated software stack.
