Recent reports indicate that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 50 megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. This information aligns with details shared by industry sources, including Roland Quandt, who noted that the component is supplied by Sony.
The device, internally codenamed Trinity 4, continues the hardware trajectory established by its predecessor. The previous model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, also utilized a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto lens with an F2.9 aperture, designed for long-distance photography.
Conflicting rumors had previously suggested that Samsung was testing a 1/1.9-inch sensor capable of 4x optical zoom. However, analyst Ice Universe clarified on September 14 that the flagship will retain the 5x zoom capability, utilizing a 1/2.52-inch sensor for the telephoto module.
