Samsung is reportedly integrating the microphone directly into the rear camera module of the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra smartphone. This design shift was highlighted by tipster OnLeaks, who referenced information from Ice Universe to clarify the device's hardware layout.
The placement of the microphone was confirmed through the analysis of four different types of protective cases for the S27 Ultra. While earlier case designs were less detailed, the most precise version reveals specific cutouts within the camera module's oval-shaped area.
The latest case design shows the third telephoto lens positioned in the upper part of the oval module, with a smaller circular opening below it. This layout addresses previous uncertainties regarding the internal configuration of the camera array, which were based on earlier CAD renders.
The integration of the microphone into the camera module is intended to improve audio quality during video recording. Industry standards suggest that keeping the microphone close to the camera lens enhances sound capture, while also allowing for a more unified aesthetic for the back of the phone.
