Samsung is reportedly planning to introduce DC dimming technology for its upcoming flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. This information was shared by industry sources on social media platforms on October 9 and 10.

Previously, Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S26 Ultra, relied on Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to manage screen brightness. This method adjusts brightness by rapidly switching the screen on and off, which can cause eye fatigue or headaches for users sensitive to screen flickering.

DC dimming functions by directly reducing the electrical current supplied to the display pixels. This approach allows for smoother brightness adjustments and is intended to mitigate the flickering issues associated with traditional PWM technology.
