Samsung is considering a price increase for its Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra smartphones in the South Korean market. The company has already notified local mobile operators about the potential adjustment, which could take effect starting October 1, 2026.
The proposed price hike for each model in the lineup is ₩149 600, which is approximately $108. This decision is reportedly driven by rising memory costs that have increased overall production expenses for the manufacturer.
If implemented, the price of the Galaxy S26 will rise to ₩1 403 600 from the current ₩1 254 000. The Galaxy S26 Plus will increase to ₩1 601 600 from ₩1 452 000, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra will reach ₩1 947 000 from ₩1 797 400.
Local distributors and retailers express concerns that the price increase, combined with a weak economy, may dampen consumer demand. Market participants suggest that users might delay purchasing new devices or turn to the secondary market for used smartphones.
This move follows a similar strategy by Apple, which recently increased the price of the iPhone 17 by $100 following the launch of the iPhone 18 series.
