Samsung is developing a second generation of its smart glasses, following the initial announcement of the first version at the July Galaxy Unpacked event. Unlike the current model, which lacks a screen, the upcoming iteration will feature integrated microdisplays to show notifications, navigation data, and incoming call information.
The Samsung Display division is tasked with developing these ultra-compact panels, which will measure no more than 0.2 inches diagonally. The company is currently evaluating OLEDoS and LEDoS technologies based on performance, color reproduction, and target cost. The system will project images directly into the user's eye to ensure privacy.
The new displays will support a 4-bit color depth, prioritizing text clarity and system information over multimedia content. Samsung has not yet finalized whether the device will utilize a single display or dual displays for the lenses. The product is expected to launch between the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028.
