In July 2026, demand for electric and hybrid vehicles in Russia increased by nearly 40 percent. According to Avto.ru CEO Ksenia Zaretskaya, hybrid models are currently driving the majority of this growth.
Despite rising interest, the country faces a significant shortage of charging infrastructure. Zaretskaya noted that the route between Moscow and Saint Petersburg features only about five charging stations, leading to wait times of up to two hours.
Urban charging remains a challenge due to high population density in cities like Moscow. While residents in private housing find charging convenient, those living in apartment buildings struggle to access necessary infrastructure.
Younger buyers are increasingly opting for hybrid vehicles. This preference is primarily driven by the potential for fuel savings and the high level of digital integration found in modern hybrid models.
