Russia has launched a pilot program allowing social benefits to be applied automatically when paying with a Mir bank card. Users no longer need to present physical documents or certificates to confirm their eligibility for discounts at participating locations.
To activate the service, cardholders must link their Mir card via the Gosuslugi portal. Once linked, the payment system verifies the user's status during the transaction and applies the discount automatically through integrated terminal and cash register software.
The technology provider INPAS has implemented the necessary software support for payment terminals to handle these social benefits. The system is currently being tested at the Rostov Regional Museum of Local Lore, with additional pilot programs active in the Tyumen Region and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The project is managed by the Russian government and the Central Bank, involving the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Transport, the Social Fund, the Federal Treasury, and the National Payment Card System (NSPK). Future plans include expanding the service to transport and commercial sectors.
