The Russian government has doubled the budget for internet traffic filtering and blocking systems for the 2027–2029 period. According to the draft budget, nearly 60 ₽ billion will be allocated for these purposes, compared to the 32 ₽ billion originally planned two years ago.
The funds are designated for the Main Radio Frequency Centre, which operates the automated system for ensuring the security of the Russian internet segment. This system is responsible for analyzing, filtering, slowing down, and blocking traffic.
Annual allocations are set at 19.87 ₽ billion for 2027, 19.844 ₽ billion for 2028, and 19.87 ₽ billion for 2029. These figures significantly exceed the previous projections of 7.22 ₽ billion, 12.32 ₽ billion, and 12.32 ₽ billion for the respective years.
The budget increase is attributed to rising costs of hardware components, such as processors, RAM, and SSDs, as well as the need to install technical equipment on new network nodes. Plans include expanding the system's capacity to 953.9 Tbit/s by 2030.
