A Reddit user overclocked the GDDR7 memory of a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Ti using the third-party tool mVolt+ Extreme. By setting a memory frequency offset of +5500MHz, the effective speed increased from the default 28 Gbps to 39 Gbps. This adjustment raised the theoretical memory bandwidth from 896 GB/s to 1248 GB/s, a 39% increase.
Despite the significant bandwidth boost, gaming performance gains were minimal. In Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing enabled, the user reported an improvement of approximately 5 FPS. Analysts suggest that the RTX 5070 Ti is not bandwidth-limited, explaining the limited impact on gaming. However, the card showed a 20% performance gain in the Steel Nomad synthetic benchmark.
The mVolt+ Extreme tool is designed to bypass the standard +3000MHz offset limit found in mainstream software like MSI Afterburner. The same tool has previously demonstrated the ability to unlock the RTX 5090 TDP to 700W. Experts warn that using such third-party software carries hardware risks and voids official support.
Stability tests revealed that a +6000MHz offset caused driver crashes. While some users achieved stability at +5500MHz, others reported limits around +4500MHz, highlighting significant variations in hardware quality. The 39 Gbps result is an individual record, surpassing the 36 Gbps mark set by the Teclab team in March 2026.
