Researchers and students at RTU MIREA have developed a modular 3D printer featuring an automatic print head changing system. The device utilizes a mobile carriage with magnetic mounts to swap between two print heads during operation, allowing for the use of various materials without manual intervention.

The printer offers a build volume of 300x300x250 mm and reaches a maximum print speed of 700 mm/s. According to senior lecturer Alexander Lim, the modular design aims to simplify configuration changes and reduce operational costs, making it suitable for small-scale production, research centers, and laboratories.

The project was developed by students Nikita Kochetov, Veronika Ermolaeva, and Daniil Kotov as part of the 'Startup as a Diploma' initiative. The team plans to integrate an automated quality control system in the future to monitor printing in real time and detect defects to minimize material waste.
