The RPCS3 development team has implemented a fix for a bug within NVIDIA GPU drivers that previously hindered emulator performance. Contributor Yahfz identified a workaround that addresses the issue, which was causing frame rate limitations and elevated video memory usage across various titles.

Testing conducted on the Gran Turismo 5 open road scenario using a Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor and an RTX 3070 graphics card showed a 37% increase in frame rates, rising from 107 to 147 FPS. Simultaneously, video memory consumption decreased by 32%, dropping from 7.1GB to 4.8GB.

Additional benchmarks demonstrated performance gains across different hardware configurations. A system featuring a Core i9-12900K and an RTX 5070 saw a 12% frame rate improvement in Gran Turismo 5, moving from 60 to 67 FPS. Furthermore, Red Dead Redemption testing on a setup with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an RTX 5090 resulted in a 25% frame rate boost.

RPCS3 is an open-source emulator designed to run PlayStation 3 software on personal computers. It utilizes software-based emulation to replicate the PS3 processor, graphics, and system environment, enabling compatibility with Windows and Linux operating systems.
