Rostelecom has completed the development of the Bulat DWDM system, designed for high-speed data transmission across backbone networks. The equipment is now officially included in the Ministry of Industry and Trade registry of domestic industrial products and is undergoing testing in laboratories and live operator networks.

The system supports up to 96 optical channels, with each channel capable of speeds reaching 200 Gbps. By utilizing DWDM technology, the hardware enables multiple data streams to be transmitted over a single pair of optical fibers, which increases network capacity without the need for additional cabling.

Manufacturing is currently split between two facilities: Rostelecom's RTT plant in Saint Petersburg and a partner company's production site. A key technical feature is the use of a 16-layer, sixth-class precision printed circuit board manufactured domestically to improve component density and signal performance.

Looking ahead, Rostelecom plans to expand the product line. Prototypes of new cards supporting speeds between 400 and 800 Gbps are expected to arrive next year. The Bulat system is also designed to maintain compatibility with equipment from other manufacturers.
