Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev stated that crypto-linked event contracts are currently outpacing sports bets on the platform. He expects sports betting to become a minority category within the company's prediction markets business in the coming years.
In Q2 2026, Robinhood traded 13.6 billion event contracts, generating approximately $156 million in revenue. About 5 billion of these contracts were related to the World Cup, yet crypto-linked contracts still captured a larger share of overall activity.
The company operates its prediction markets through Rothera, a joint venture with Susquehanna that holds a 90% stake in the exchange MIAXdx, formerly known as LedgerX. This infrastructure provides the regulated framework for the platform's contracts.
On September 8, Robinhood acquired minority equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com. The deal was valued at $5 billion following an investment from Citadel Securities. The first eight months of 2026 marked record-setting trading activity for the platform.
