Robinhood reported that its margin book reached a record $21.6 billion by the end of the second quarter of 2026. This figure represents a 127% increase compared to the previous year and a 332% rise since the second quarter of 2024, when balances stood at $5 billion.

By the end of August 2026, the company's margin balances remained high at $21.5 billion. This growth coincides with a broader trend in the US market, where total margin debt reached approximately $1.5 trillion in June 2026, marking the highest level recorded by FINRA.

To access margin trading on the platform, users must maintain a minimum portfolio value of $2,000. Robinhood applies tiered interest rates for these loans, which start at 5.25%. The company identifies margin users as among its most active traders.

Analysts are monitoring these figures as historical data suggests that rapid increases in margin debt often precede market declines. Robinhood's annual growth rate of 127% significantly exceeds historical warning thresholds of around 45%.
