Robinhood has officially added Bitcoin worth $25 million to its corporate balance sheet. Johann Kerbrat, the company's senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, confirmed the acquisition during an interview on X. At the current market price of $85,582 per coin, this investment corresponds to approximately 292 BTC.
The company stated that the purchase serves as a commitment to the cryptocurrency sector rather than a speculative investment. This move marks a shift in internal sentiment, as CFO Shiv Verma previously questioned the efficiency of holding Bitcoin as a capital allocation strategy in November 2025. The stake accounts for roughly 0.025% of Robinhood's market capitalization of $100 billion.
Financial performance in the crypto division has recently declined, with revenue falling 38% year-over-year to $100 million in the second quarter. Conversely, total company revenue reached a record $1.31 billion, marking a 32% increase. Robinhood shares closed at $112 on Tuesday, reflecting a 1.85% decrease.
Beyond treasury holdings, the company is expanding its infrastructure through Robinhood Chain, a layer-2 network built on Arbitrum. Launched on July 1, the network reached a total value locked of $1.047 billion within 80 days. Since late September, the TVL has stabilized between $1 billion and $1.05 billion.
Future product plans include the introduction of perpetual futures for eligible US customers, offering up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and Ethereum. These features are being integrated alongside new in-app AI agents. The company's upcoming quarterly filing is expected to provide further details on its digital asset holdings.
