Retro Games Ltd has unveiled a modernized version of the classic Atari 800XL home computer. The new device retains the aesthetic of the original machine while incorporating contemporary features such as HDMI connectivity and USB support.
The updated console comes with 25 pre-installed games, including titles like Star Raiders II, Asteroids, and Centipede. Users can unlock two additional games, Castle Crisis and Super Breakout, by connecting an external analog controller, which is sold separately.
The system includes a cartridge port compatible with most original Atari 400, 800, XL, and XE cartridges. The device is currently available for pre-order at a price of $219.99, £199.99, €219.99, or AUD 349.99.
While the original 1983 model featured a MOS Technology 6502B processor and 64KB of RAM, the manufacturer has not yet disclosed the technical specifications for the internal hardware of the new recreation.
