A Windows 11 user reported an issue where their local account disappeared from the login screen, despite the user profile remaining intact in the C:\Users directory. The user was unable to switch to this account through the standard interface.

The issue was resolved by modifying two specific registry keys. First, the user adjusted the DWORD value for the affected account under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList, changing it from 0 to 1 to unhide the account.

Second, the user modified the HideFastUserSwitching key located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, setting its value from 1 to 0. These changes restored the account visibility without requiring a system reboot.
