Berlin-based startup Restate has secured $20 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Singular, with additional participation from Redpoint Ventures and Capital One Ventures. This latest injection of capital brings the company's total funding to $27 million since its inception in 2024.
The startup plans to allocate the new funds toward product development and international expansion. A key part of this strategy involves establishing a new commercial hub in San Francisco to strengthen its presence in the United States market.
Restate provides infrastructure designed to support distributed backends and AI agents. The software aims to ensure durability by preventing crashes and failures in complex workflows. The company reports that its technology is already utilized by hundreds of organizations, including several Fortune 500 firms.
The founders of Restate previously developed Apache Flink, a technology widely used for real-time data processing in the banking, streaming media, and software-as-a-service sectors. CEO Stephan Ewen noted that the company is focused on making reliability a core property of modern infrastructure.
