Amjad Masad, CEO and co-founder of Replit, introduced the concept of a self-driving company at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco. He defines this model as an organization where AI agents handle routine tasks while employees focus on high-level decision-making and creative architecture.
At Replit, AI agents now manage the initial triage of support tickets by analyzing GitHub issues, the codebase, and Linear tickets. This process provides human staff with necessary context to resolve issues, after which agents can deploy fixes with a single click.
Masad stated that the integration of AI agents has shifted the company's internal focus toward strategic planning and collaborative discussions. He emphasized that human judgment and taste remain essential components of the workflow, as agents handle the repetitive labor.
The company reports that AI adoption has made work less monotonous for its employees. Replit is currently sharing these insights with other businesses to demonstrate how AI tools can increase productivity and improve overall job satisfaction.
