Dallas-based startup REO Trucks has partnered with frankstephenson design to lead the styling of its revived Runabout vehicle lineup. The trio includes the T4X work truck, the T4C crew cab, and the S4C SUV, all sharing a common body-on-frame platform. Frank Stephenson, known for his work on the McLaren P1 and the modern Mini, is currently overseeing the design phase.

The Runabout models feature a focus on the right to repair, utilizing physical controls and easily removable panels. Each vehicle is powered by an inline four-cylinder gas engine designed to last for 500 000 miles. The company plans to offer an authorized maker program for parts, with a public catalog supported for 20 years and no software-locked components.

REO Trucks has already secured more than 32 500 paid reservations, with refundable deposits of $25 currently available. A digital reveal of the vehicles is scheduled for later this year, followed by pilot builds in 2027. The company aims to begin initial customer deliveries between late 2028 and 2029.
