Renault has secured over 1,000 orders for its 5 Turbo 3E electric hot hatch, representing more than half of the planned 1,980-unit production run. The vehicle features a rear-wheel-drive layout with two electric motors producing 555 horsepower, allowing acceleration to 62 mph in under 3.5 seconds.
The base price for the model starts at €160 000, while fully customized versions may exceed €350 000. The car is equipped with a 70-kWh battery offering a range of over 249 miles and supports 800-volt rapid charging up to 350 kW, enabling an 80-percent charge in approximately 15 minutes.
Renault plans to launch a comprehensive customization program in mid-2027, with initial customer deliveries scheduled for 2028. To support this, the company has established two dedicated facilities in the Paris area for vehicle configuration and client services.
The production limit of 1,980 units commemorates the 1980 debut of the original Renault 5 Turbo. This project marks a shift for the automaker toward the luxury performance segment, as it explores potential future production versions of its retro-inspired concept vehicles.
