Renault is reviving its classic 1980s minivan with the new E-Space Concept, an all-electric vehicle designed to capture the spirit of the original 1984 model. While the company currently markets an Espace SUV, this upcoming concept returns to the traditional MPV form factor. The name E-Space highlights the brand's E-Tech electrified technology and the vehicle's spacious interior design.
The vehicle measures 4,700 mm in length, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Kia PV5 and the short-wheelbase Volkswagen ID. Buzz. Its exterior features modern design elements, including U-shaped light strips on both ends and an illuminated diamond pattern on the front. The square running lights draw inspiration from the aesthetic of the Renault 5.
Technical details remain limited, but the model is expected to utilize lithium iron phosphate batteries to reduce production costs. Reports suggest the minivan will be built on the new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform, which supports an extended-range configuration and may offer a driving range of approximately 500 miles.
The official debut of the E-Space Concept is scheduled for October 12 at the Paris Motor Show. Alongside this model, Renault plans to showcase the Renault 8 Gordini and Renault 4 JP4x4 concepts. The exhibition will also feature existing models, including the Megane E-Tech, Trafic E-Tech, a customized Renault 5 Turbo 3E, and the Rafale Hypnotic edition.
