Renault has announced a new investment program exceeding €10 billion for its French operations over the next five years. CEO Francois Provost stated that these funds will primarily target the development of electric vehicles and more affordable car models. The company notes that this commitment depends on favorable political and social conditions in the country.
The initiative aligns with the futuREady strategy introduced in spring 2026. By 2030, the automaker plans to launch 22 new models in Europe, including 16 fully electric vehicles. The company is currently developing the 800-volt RGEV Medium 2.0 platform, alongside new battery and powertrain technologies designed to improve cost efficiency and integration.
Beyond France, Renault is investing €600 million in its Spanish facilities located in Valladolid and Palencia. These plants will produce two electric models based on the new 800-volt platform, with Valladolid also gaining a new battery assembly line. Despite this, France remains the central production hub for the group's electric vehicle lineup.
In 2025, Renault manufactured approximately 500 000 vehicles in France. For 2026, the company projects a production increase of at least 25 percent, potentially exceeding 625 000 units, driven by the ramp-up of electric vehicle manufacturing. The company has not yet disclosed specific details regarding which plants or models will receive the new funding.
