Stockholm-based startup Rebaba has secured $4.6 million in a seed funding round. The investment was led by Sistafund and EIT Urban Mobility, with participation from existing shareholders and new European investors.
Founded in 2023 by Paula Runsten and Felix Kruse, the company specializes in repurposing retired electric vehicle batteries. These batteries, which retain 70% to 80% of their original capacity, are converted into stationary energy storage systems.
The technology involves placing used battery packs into cabinets or containers, integrating proprietary control software, and connecting them to grids, solar panels, or EV chargers. This approach allows the company to serve industrial, commercial, and residential clients.
Rebaba moved to its current in-house production facility at the beginning of 2025. The company currently employs 16 people and plans to hire four additional staff members to manage increasing demand for its systems.
The startup aims to compete with new battery cells by focusing on price, performance, and warranties. According to the founders, the company has achieved profitability on its installed systems and intends to use the new capital to scale operations.
