Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton announced a price hike for the 2 GB versions of the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 models. The cost for these specific boards has increased by $12.50. As of today, the 2 GB Raspberry Pi 4 is priced at $67.50, while the 2 GB Raspberry Pi 5 now costs $77.50.

The company previously maintained stable pricing for 1 GB and 2 GB models in April, but stated that this strategy is no longer sustainable. Prices for the 1 GB variants of both boards, as well as the 2 GB Compute Module 4 and 5, remain at their current levels for now. Users are encouraged to consider older models like the Pi 3B, 3A+, or 3B+.

Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra indicated that memory and storage supply may tighten further in 2027 and 2028. Additionally, research from TrendForce suggests that conventional DRAM prices are expected to rise by 10-15% per quarter. This trend is driven by suppliers prioritizing advanced-process capacity for high-performance server products over consumer memory.
