Raspberry Pi has increased the price of the 16GB version of its Raspberry Pi 5 single-board computer by $80. The device now costs $385, which is more than triple its original launch price of $120 in 2025.

CEO Eben Upton stated that the price hike is a forced measure due to ongoing shortages of 16GB DRAM memory chips. The company is currently unable to secure sufficient alternative supply sources, reflecting broader component constraints within the IT industry.

The price adjustment also affects the Compute Module 5, which has seen a $40 increase. However, the Raspberry Pi 500+ model remains at its previous price point. The company noted that this is a temporary strategy to manage supply chain pressures.

Upton suggested that users could mitigate costs by optimizing memory usage or switching to lower-capacity models. He indicated that if the memory market stabilizes and supply chains normalize, the company may consider lowering prices in the future.
