A Reddit user reported that two 8-pin power connectors on their Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card melted. The issue was identified after months of intermittent system freezes and black screen errors.
The graphics card was connected to the power supply using a Thermal Grizzly WireView adapter, which monitors power consumption. The specific version used featured three 8-pin connectors.
Upon attempting to remove the adapter, the user found it difficult to detach. Inspection revealed that two of the three connectors had melted. The user suggested that the high temperatures might have also damaged the card's ports.
Thermal Grizzly has responded to the report, advising the user to contact their support team. The company representative stated that such damage typically results from loose connections and poor electrical contact.
The user maintains that the connectors were fully inserted and the connection was tight. This incident highlights that even standard 8-pin connectors can fail under the high power demands of modern flagship GPUs.
