At the 2026 Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm introduced the sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition, featuring enhanced support for Unreal Engine 5. The new chip integrates specialized Adreno Matrix Cores within the Adreno GPU to handle AI-driven graphics tasks, marking the first time such dedicated hardware has been included in this architecture.

The company also unveiled Adreno Neural Fusion, a technology designed to optimize image quality and frame rates. This solution combines neural network processing, AI super-resolution, and frame generation within a single graphics pipeline. It functions similarly to DLSS 4, allowing games to render at lower resolutions while using AI to restore detail and generate additional frames.

By reducing the native rendering load, the chip aims to improve visual fidelity, increase frame rates, and lower power consumption. These features support advanced graphics techniques such as Nanite virtualized geometry, Lumen global illumination, and high-resolution textures. The technology is already compatible with both Unity and Unreal Engine 5, simplifying the development process for mobile games.
