The European company Qivalis has secured an electronic money institution (EMI) license from the Dutch central bank. This regulatory approval enables the firm to issue a euro-pegged stablecoin, with the launch expected in the coming months.

Qivalis operates as an interbank consortium, currently backed by 37 credit institutions across 15 European countries. The company plans to distribute its digital asset through a B2B2X model, targeting banks, crypto exchanges, and payment providers.

To proceed, Qivalis must adhere to the European Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, which includes the publication of a white paper. CEO Jan-Oliver Zell stated that the license is a key step toward establishing a compliant digital settlement infrastructure for the European Union.
