The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is restructuring its operations by creating a standalone platform to manage its domestic portfolio. This initiative aims to separate local holdings from the fund's international investment activities, following a strategy similar to the model used in Abu Dhabi.

The new entity will focus on supporting key national companies that drive Qatar's non-hydrocarbon economy. Current local assets include significant stakes in Ooredoo and Qatar National Bank, the latter of which is valued at approximately $50 billion.

CEO Mohammed Al Sowaidi has announced plans to invest $500 billion in US markets over the next decade. This commitment follows projections of increased revenue from the expansion of the North Field production capacity, which is expected to boost LNG output by about 85%.

Separately, the QIA has increased its venture capital fund-of-funds program to $3 billion. While discussions regarding the domestic restructuring began in early 2026, the fund has not yet released a confirmed timeline or specific operational details for the new entity.
