Kaspersky conducted a survey in September 2026 involving 1,007 residents of major Russian cities to assess public attitudes toward robotics. The findings highlight waste management (64%), mining (62%), and logistics (56%) as the most promising sectors for automation.
Respondents also identified facility maintenance (51%), manufacturing (45%), agriculture (41%), science (41%), and medicine (40%) as suitable areas. Conversely, sectors involving direct human interaction, such as advertising, consulting, and arts, were viewed as less suitable for robotic integration.
The primary benefits cited by 98% of participants include removing humans from hazardous or physically demanding tasks (69%) and operating in extreme environments (66%). Other advantages mentioned were reduced human workload (57%), continuous operation (54%), and increased task speed (53%).
Despite these benefits, 81% of respondents expressed concerns regarding robotics. Technical risks, such as malfunctions (67%) and recognition errors (59%), were prominent. Cybersecurity threats, including malicious use (56%) and data leaks (48%), were also significant worries.
Social implications such as job displacement (51%) and loss of human skills (38%) were noted. Furthermore, 47% of participants identified medicine and healthcare as the sector where the cost of a potential robotic error is considered the highest.
