Prinoth and Scania have expanded their partnership to develop battery-electric snow groomers for European ski slopes. The collaboration focuses on integrating Scania’s Core 800 lithium-ion battery systems into Prinoth’s heavy-duty machinery, including the Husky and the Leitwolf E-Motion models.
The Scania Core 800 system operates at 691V and features integrated liquid cooling alongside a proprietary charging management system. The modular battery packs are scalable, offering capacities ranging from 21 kWh up to 624 kWh to support operations in extreme cold and steep terrain.
The two companies began their collaboration in 2022, when the first battery-equipped snow groomers were introduced. Since then, the machines have been tested in challenging environmental conditions, demonstrating their performance in low temperatures and their ability to handle heavy snow volumes.
Scania’s industrial battery technology is currently deployed across various sectors, including mining, construction, agriculture, and logistics. The long-term agreement between the two firms aims to continue the development and improvement of electric snow grooming equipment.
