According to Omdia, global TV shipments will decline by 1% year-over-year in 2027. Despite this overall market contraction, the segment for premium televisions priced above $1,000 is projected to grow by 9.3%. The trend is particularly pronounced in North America, where shipments of high-end models are expected to rise by 21.9%.

Manufacturers are currently facing pressure from rising component costs and memory shortages, which are impacting profit margins. Premium models allow companies to better offset these increased production expenses through higher retail prices. Consequently, major industry players are shifting their resources to prioritize the high-end segment of the market.

The report also highlights a shift in display technology adoption. The market share of RGB LED technology in premium televisions is expected to increase steadily, reaching levels comparable to OLED by 2028. Omdia forecasts that by 2030, RGB LED could capture approximately 49% of the high-end television market.
