Positive Technologies is shifting its product strategy for web application security. The company is ending active development of PT Application Firewall 3, while maintaining technical support for existing clients. Resources will now focus on PT Application Firewall PRO and the cloud-based PT Cloud Application Firewall.

The company reports that 36% of successful corporate infrastructure breaches involve exploiting vulnerabilities in internet-facing web applications. Modern threats now target the entire organization rather than individual services, aiming to gain control over critical systems or facilitate large-scale data leaks.

PT Application Firewall PRO, developed over the past six years, is designed for large-scale infrastructures with hundreds of applications across multiple data centers. It features a scalable architecture that allows for performance adjustments and updates without traffic interruption, managed via a centralized console.

The solution supports isolated security spaces for different applications, catering to large holdings with multiple teams. Meanwhile, PT Cloud Application Firewall offers a subscription-based model for protecting web services and APIs without the need for additional hardware, with options for partner-managed support.

Over the past year, the customer base for PT Application Firewall PRO has doubled. Companies typically adopt this solution to manage seasonal traffic spikes, monitor traffic across distributed locations, or address complex security requirements beyond blocking standard web attacks.
