Porsche has finalized the sale of its entire stake in the Rimac Group and the Bugatti Rimac joint venture. The transaction, completed on September 9, 2026, follows an agreement announced in April involving a consortium led by HOF Capital and supported by the Sawiris family.
The divestment generated approximately €1 billion for Porsche. The company plans to allocate €250 million of these proceeds toward its pension obligations. This move marks the end of a partnership that began in 2018, when Porsche first invested in the Croatian automaker.
The change in ownership coincides with a leadership reshuffle. Christophe Piochon is stepping down as President of Bugatti Automobiles and COO of Bugatti Rimac. Mate Rimac will assume the role of President of Bugatti Automobiles, while Marko Brkljačić joins the leadership team as COO.
The Rimac Group currently operates four divisions: Bugatti Rimac, which produces hypercars; Rimac Technology, a Tier-1 supplier; the Verne robotaxi service; and Rimac Energy, focused on stationary battery storage systems.
