Porsche has officially finalized the sale of its stakes in Bugatti Rimac and the Rimac Group. The transaction, which received regulatory approval, was completed on September 9. This move concludes a nearly 30-year period of direct involvement by the Volkswagen Group with the Bugatti brand, which began under Ferdinand Piëch in 1998.
The sale generated approximately €1 billion for Porsche. Of this amount, €250 million has been allocated to cover pension obligations. Porsche stated that the divestment is part of a strategy to streamline its portfolio and refocus on core business activities, including the development of new electric and internal combustion models.
Following the exit of Porsche, a consortium led by HOF Capital, including BlueFive Capital, has acquired the stakes. The Rimac Group retains its position as the majority shareholder of Bugatti Rimac. Mate Rimac has assumed the role of president of Bugatti Automobiles, alongside his existing duties as CEO of Bugatti Rimac.
Bugatti enters this new phase with a strong commercial outlook, as its production capacity is fully booked until 2029. The brand continues to focus on high-performance vehicles, exemplified by the recent introduction of the Tourbillon, which features a V16 engine paired with a hybrid system.
