Porsche has officially confirmed the development of a new mid-engined supercar platform. This project aims to create a dedicated model line positioned above the 911, marking a return to the hypercar segment for the brand. Unlike the previously showcased all-electric Mission X concept, this new vehicle will feature a combustion engine.
The company plans to unveil a preview of this hypercar, dubbed the Mission S concept, on October 15. While technical details remain unconfirmed, the vehicle is intended to serve as a successor to the 918 Spyder. Porsche is developing the powertrain in-house, with reports suggesting the potential use of a flat-eight engine.
This initiative aligns with Porsche's new Value over Volume strategy, which prioritizes higher-margin, exclusive products over high-volume sales. The company aims to increase the share of D and E segment models in its portfolio by approximately 45 percent. This shift reflects a broader focus on personalization and high-value vehicle segments.
Looking ahead to 2030, Porsche intends to launch a new vehicle annually. The roadmap includes the electric 718 Boxster and Cayman in 2027, followed by a gasoline-powered Macan replacement featuring plug-in hybrid options in 2028. A potential three-row SUV positioned above the Cayenne remains under internal evaluation.
