Pony.ai addressed a recent incident involving a passenger whose finger was caught in the door of one of its autonomous vehicles. The company stated that the incident occurred on October 3 when a companion manually closed the door, accidentally trapping the passenger's finger.
Following the event, Pony.ai assisted the passenger in receiving medical care and cooperated with local traffic police. After reviewing the company's video footage of the incident, authorities classified the event as an accident rather than a traffic collision. The passenger has since returned home.
Pony.ai operates in the Robotaxi, autonomous trucking, and intelligent solution sectors across China, the US, and Europe. The company plans to expand its robotaxi fleet to over 3,500 vehicles by the end of 2026 and aims to operate in more than 20 cities globally.
The company projects that its revenue from autonomous driving services will reach 3.5 times its 2025 levels by the end of 2026. Pony.ai continues to focus on accelerating its commercialization efforts in international markets.
