Polymarket is currently in advanced negotiations to secure a new funding round of approximately $1 billion. This investment would value the blockchain-based prediction market at about $21 billion, more than doubling its previous valuation of roughly $9 billion following an investment by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in 2025.

The potential round is expected to be led by 1789 Capital, which has previously invested $200 million in the platform. ICE remains a major stakeholder, having committed nearly $2 billion in total, with $1.6 billion already invested across multiple tranches.

Investors, specifically ICE and Founders Fund, have conditioned their support on management changes. They have urged CEO Shayne Coplan to appoint a chief operating officer, a position that remained vacant as of mid-October 2026. Previously, ICE required the hiring of a CFO, leading to the appointment of Warren Jenson in September 2026.

The company is actively expanding its leadership team, hiring executives from firms such as Goldman Sachs, DoorDash, and Robinhood, as well as a former FBI official. CEO Shayne Coplan has acknowledged the need for stronger management structures to address growth challenges as the company competes with regulated platforms like Kalshi.
