General Counsel at Plume Network, B. Salman Banaei, outlined four benefits of asset tokenization in a report published by Bitcoin Suisse on September 13, 2026. He highlighted improved settlement efficiency, broader market access through fractional ownership, enhanced transparency via on-chain audits, and reduced counterparty risk through smart contracts.
Banaei identified fixed-income and debt markets as primary targets for tokenization. In his March 2026 testimony to the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, he argued that tokenized securities should be regulated under existing frameworks. He also warned that the U.S. risks trailing behind Switzerland and Singapore in regulatory progress.
Plume Network, which launched its Ethereum Layer 2 mainnet in June 2025, currently hosts over 220 projects with a combined asset value exceeding $350 million. The platform supports approximately 260,000 wallets dedicated to real-world assets, including private credit, real estate, and trade finance receivables.
The Bitcoin Suisse report also analyzed Bitcoin as a portfolio diversifier. Data suggests that allocating 1% to 2.5% of a portfolio to Bitcoin could increase annual returns from 6.2% to 7.2%. Bitcoin Suisse, which manages over $3 billion in assets, secured MiCAR licensing in June 2026 to expand its operations in the European Union.
