Tech reviewers from Hardware Unboxed and Toasty Bros tested the Radeon RX 9050 with 4 GB of VRAM. This version is currently exclusive to OEM systems from manufacturers like CyberPowerPC and is not sold as a standalone retail product. In contrast, the standard retail version of the RX 9050 features 8 GB of memory.
Both versions share the same GPU architecture with 1024 stream processors and a boost clock of 2.6 GHz. However, the 4 GB model is limited by a 64-bit memory bus and 144 GB/s bandwidth, while the 8 GB model utilizes a 128-bit bus and 288 GB/s bandwidth. The 4 GB variant uses GDDR6 memory at 18 Gbps.
Testing across 18 games at 1080p resolution with low settings showed the 8 GB version is 37% faster on average. The 4 GB model averaged 78 FPS compared to 107 FPS for the 8 GB version. The Intel Arc B570 outperformed the 4 GB RX 9050 by approximately 44% in similar low-setting tests.
Hardware analysis revealed that XFX manufactures the 4 GB card, which includes a dual-fan cooling system and an 8-pin power connector. Performance of the card is also heavily dependent on the host system, as testing showed significant improvements when upgrading from single-channel DDR4 RAM to dual-channel DDR5 configurations.
