Artist Pepenardo has transformed six copies of the 2036 issue of Bitcoin Magazine into unique artworks by hand-drawing on the covers. Each magazine includes the artist's signature on the cover and an interior spread, accompanied by two original trading cards.
The project features characters from Pepenardo's visual universe, such as the Sleeping Knights, previously displayed at the BMAG Museum and Bitcoin 2026. The artist's previous work, FAKEGENESIS, sold for 1.625 BTC at the 2023 Bitcoin Conference in Miami.
Two oil paintings by Pepenardo, titled THE DREAMER and THE DREAMLESS, sold for 0.32698802 BTC each at a BMAG auction during Bitcoin 2026, receiving a total of 197 bids. These works have since been adapted into trading cards.
Bitcoin Magazine, co-founded in 2012 by Mihai Alisie and Vitalik Buterin, has established a secondary market for its early issues. The publication does not reprint past editions, contributing to the scarcity of its physical copies.
In 2023, the magazine released the Genesis Box, a limited set of 21 collections containing the first 22 issues. The publication is a subsidiary of BTC Inc., which is owned by Nakamoto Inc., listed on NASDAQ under the ticker NAKA.
