Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth introduced Project Meridian, a new initiative focused on analyzing future warfare and emerging military technologies. The project is co-led by Elon Musk, Anduril founder Palmer Luckey, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, operating under the supervision of the Defense Department CTO Emil Michael.

The team is tasked with submitting findings and proposing actionable solutions within 120 days. These recommendations aim to accelerate the development, testing, and deployment of advanced technologies to maintain U.S. military dominance. The study will be conducted through an unnamed partner organization.

Additionally, the Pentagon has established an Autonomous Warfare Command to expedite the integration of autonomous systems and drones. This move reflects the current administration's focus on prioritizing advanced military tech and increasing collaboration with Silicon Valley-based companies.

Musk’s involvement marks his return to official advisory roles following his departure from the Department of Government Efficiency. His company, SpaceX, currently provides satellite services for national security. Meanwhile, Anduril holds contracts for long-range missiles and autonomous aircraft.
