PayPal has expanded the availability of its PYUSD stablecoin to 70 new markets globally, marking a significant increase from its initial presence in the US and the UK. The service is now accessible to eligible users in regions including Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Uganda, and Singapore, allowing them to manage the asset directly through their existing accounts.
The circulating supply of PYUSD has surpassed $4 billion, representing a fourfold increase from the approximately $1 billion recorded in August 2025. This growth has positioned the asset as the seventh-largest stablecoin by market capitalization. The token is issued by Paxos under federal regulatory oversight.
The platform aims to facilitate cross-border payments by utilizing blockchain technology, which offers faster settlement times compared to traditional channels that often involve fees of 5% to 10%. Additionally, PayPal has introduced a rewards program for holding PYUSD, though this incentive is not available in all regions, with Singapore and the UK specifically excluded.
