Other World Computing has finalized the acquisition of OpenDrives, a company specializing in software-defined storage management for video and media. This move integrates the Jellyfish shared storage line with OpenDrives' enterprise-grade data management and hybrid cloud orchestration capabilities.
OpenDrives has provided the Atlas data storage platform to Hollywood studios and broadcast networks since 2011. The technology is designed to support high-throughput and low-latency requirements for data-intensive creative workflows.
The acquisition includes the OpenDrives Edge accelerator, introduced in April 2026 to provide distributed teams with local-speed data access. Additionally, the deal covers the Astraeus cloud-native data services platform, which entered beta in late 2025 with a planned update in 2027.
